Our MPP agrees with Tim Hudak's decision to step down
Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller is not surprised Tim Hudak has stepped down as PC party leader. Hudak announced his resignation last night, after it was announced the Liberals won a majority government. Miller says resigning is not something Hudak planned on.
Now that Hudak has stepped down, there is speculation as to who will replace him. We asked Miller if he would run for the job. He says he’s not planning on it.
Miller says he hopes Christine Elliott will run for leadership. She is one of a handful of contenders rumoured to possibly run, including our MP Tony Clement. In an email to The Moose, Clement did not comment on the speculation, saying he has refused all media requests at this time.
In the meantime, Miller says there will be a caucus meeting in the next few weeks, where they will probably name an interim leader and then discuss the terms of the leadership race.
