Residents seeing bears in their neighbourhoods

Bears are being seen in neighbourhoods across Huntsville and Lake of Bays. The Huntsville OPP says they’ve received many calls over the past couple of weeks. Constable Lynda Cranney says bears tend to return to the place they find food. Bears are attracted to things like pet food, bird seed, grease and barbecues not cleaned after use. Police ask that you keep all food inside and put any recyclables and garbage away in bear resistant containers. If you see a bear in your neighbourhood contact the bear reporting line 1-866-514-2327.
