Reports of pets being left in hot cars in Huntsville

The Huntsville OPP has received numerous calls about people leaving their pets in cars. It’s been happening in the past couple of weeks and the OPP wants to remind you that it’s dangerous. A dog’s normal body temperature is just under 40 degrees. If a vehicle sits beyond those temps, it can cause brain damage or even death.

If you’re bringing your pet with you on your travels be sure to have the air condition on and plenty of water in the car. If you’re going to be running some errands, either leave your pet at home or  bring someone with you to watch your pet in the car. If you see a pet in distress call the OSPCA or your local detachment.
