Combining the two elementary schools in Honey Harbour won’t work, according to TLDSB

Trillium Lakelands is not on board with combining the two primary schools in Honey Harbour. This idea is being floated by Georgian Bay Township, as the two schools are under an accommodation review, and could both be closed.

The TLDSB runs the Honey Harbour Public School, while the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board oversees Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School. Trillium Lakelands says even if the students from both of these schools were combined, the numbers still aren’t enough for solid programming.

TLDSB says Honey Harbour Public School brings in a little over $420,000, while it costs around $585,000 to run.

The board directors are meeting in January to look at their options, and there is going to be a public meeting in February.

More details are on the TLDSB website.
