MP Tony Clement says Canadians should have a say on a possible electoral reform

Parry Sound Muskoka MP Tony Clement wants to see more public involvement in the planning process for electoral reform.
Recently, a reform committee released a report that suggests a referendum be held to find out if Canadians want to find an alternative to the current first-past-the-post system.
Clement says a recent poll in his own riding has suggested Canadians want to see a change and to be involved in that decision.
The report from the committee did not suggest any clear alternatives at this point other than having a system of proportional representation.
However, Liberal MPs that were in the committee have suggested that their party should avoid taking on a referendum at this time.
Clement says we now have to wait for an official response from the Liberals on how to move forward.
