Our local OPP detachments are reminding drivers to be aware of the weather before hitting the road. This comes after the snow began to fall last week.
Parry Sound Community Safety Officer, Constable Kyle Ney, says slowing down is their number one tip. He says the police get more calls for service this time of year, as drivers adjust to the winter conditions, or before winter tires are put on. He notes having proper winter tires is very important. He says they’re meant for rigid temperatures, and are designed to grip the road better.
Ney also notes it’s important to have an emergency kit in your car. It should be stocked with things like candles, matches, booster cables, and flares.
