Health unit asking parents to send in all of their children’s immunization records

The Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit is encouraging parents to update their kids’ immunization records. Rebecca Dupuis, the Vaccine Preventable Disease Program Manager, says many parents get their kids’ shots at their family doctor, but the health unit also needs that information.

Dupuis says that’s because the health unit is mandated to keep up-to-date records on every child in school on their immunization status. She says that helps to protect all kids in case there is a disease outbreak in school.

You can go to the health unit’s website to send in the information, or phone it in; and Dupuis says it’s all confidential.
