The budget process is starting in Lake of Bays. Town council met this week to go over the numbers, and it’s looking like the proposed operating budget will be approved.
Mayor Bob Young says some new initiatives were also discussed, as council approved around $70,000 in extras. That money will go towards things like the public library, which will receive around $9,000, the Health Hub and the S.S. Bigwin, which get $15,000 in total.
Young says the budget is going up by about 4.5 per cent year-over-year, which equals out to be about $18 per $250,000 home.
The budget is expected to pass in December’s council meeting.
