Muskoka Community Foundation awards Smart and Caring Grant with Canada 150th celebration theme

Muskoka Community Foundation has awarded four organizations funds to help with projects or events related to Canada’s 150th Anniversary.
On Tuesday, officials with the foundation met with these organizations to split a grant of $10,500 between them.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka, Muskoka Parry Sound Coordinated Sexual Assault Service, YWCA Muskoka and Community Living Huntsville were the recipients.
Muskoka Community Foundation was founded in 2007 and has given out over $247,000 to registered charities in Muskoka.
These funds were awarded in conjunction with National Philanthropy Day.
Here is a list of the projects these funds will go towards:
  • YWCA Muskoka was awarded $3,000 to assist with its Girls Leading Change March Break leadership camp for young women ages 13-16
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka was awarded $3,000 to help with its Youth 150 Events, a collaborative set of monthly events with Little Sprouts Eco Club of Muskoka Conservancy to teach youth about Canada’s culture and Muskoka’s environment
  • Community Living Huntsville was awarded $3,000 for its project called Celebrating Inclusion through The Arts, which looks to provide opportunities for people with and without disabilities in celebration of Canada’s 150th
  • Muskoka Parry Sound Coordinated Sexual Assault Services was awarded $1,500 for it’s social media and video project *Click* for Community Awareness, that looks to spread awareness about the organization through the region
