Mohawk elders glaze bowls with traditional images for GHS Empty Bowls campaign

Elders on the Wahta Mohawk Territory are lending a helping hand with the Gravenhurst High School Empty Bowls event.
On Thursday, Teacher Sue Buckingham travelled to the Wahta Cultural Centre to have the ladies glaze bowls to be sold for the event.
Buckingham says the Empty Bowls theme is First Nations-based and this is a great way to involve the Mohawk community and create an authentic Indigenous connection.
Traditional Mohawk images like wolves, turtles and bears were used as part of the glazing design process.
Empty Bowls kicks off at GHS on November 17th at 6:00pm.
You can pick up advanced tickets for $25 at Soctiabank in Gravenhurst.
