Muskoka health officials ask residents to get the flu shot now

Muskoka’s health unit wants you to get your flu shot this year.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit says the flu vaccine is the most effective way to stay healthy, and recommends anyone six months of age and up gets it every fall.
The province says, starting this week, free flu shots are available from doctors, health units, and trained pharmacists.
The province is also recommending other ways to avoid spreading the illness, including washing your hands, and coughing or sneezing into a tissue or your sleeve.
You should also clean surfaces often, as the flu can live on them for up to eight hours.
