Ontario reminding residents to stay safe on the roads this winter

While the white stuff isn’t flying yet, the Ontario Government does think this is the perfect time to start preparing for the eventual winter driving conditions.
Officials say this is a good time to start putting together a winter survival kit to leave in your car over the snowy season.
These kits should include things like blankets, food, water, candles and flares in case you become stuck on the side of the road in a remote location.
Drivers should also take the opportunity over the next few weeks to install winter tires.
Finally, officials say driving behaviour needs to change with the conditions.
When there is snow on the road, slow down and give yourself more time to get to your destination.
Remember to stay well back of snow plows on roads and highways and never try to overtake the operators while they are doing their jobs to clear the road.
