The Bracebridge Fire Department is educating local residents on the proper use of smoke detectors.
Fire Prevention Week kicks off on October 9th and firefighters in Bracebridge came together for an open house as an early kick-off on Tuesday night.
Deputy Fire Chief Jared Cayley says part of this year’s theme is awareness on how often to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Officials were also training junior firefighters on fighting fires and saving lives.
The junior firefighters were led around a special course that had them save a baby, make their way through some small obstacles and then finally, put out a fire with a real fire hose.
