Three Bracebridge OPP officers to receive awards tomorrow

Three Bracebridge OPP officers are being recognized tomorrow for exemplary service. It’s happening at an awards ceremony at the Barrie Golf and Country Club. On April 5th 2013, Provincial Constables Matthew MacBride and Kyle Maki investigated a suspicious vehicle call in Bracebridge. While there they heard shots fired. They ensured the safety of themselves and others and identified the source of the shots, locating the lone, fatally injured gunman and a critically wounded woman lying on the front lawn of her residence. Constable Maki remained with 26 year old Lindsay Wilson and provided her with comfort until she reached the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Also up for an award is Constable Samantha Bigley-Brown, who responded to a report of a man in medical distress at his Gravenhurst home. He was found unconscious. Bigley helped clear his airway and administered CPR. She and another officer continued their efforts until paramedics arrived. Bigley gets her award tomorrow, while the other officer involved gets his award at a future date.
