Bracebridge downtown business owners ask for review on street closures for summer events

A business owner in Bracebridge is hoping to find a change of venue for events held in the downtown area.
Elise Boyer, owner and operator of Veranda, has approached the town, the BIA and the Chamber of Commerce with a petition to move some of the downtown events to a different area of town.
Boyer says the constant events that occur over the summer force Manitoba Street to be closed and have a noted impact on her own and other businesses.
Boyer says she doesn’t expect every event to be moved away from downtown.
But, she says there seems to be a lot of events where the town could instead utilize parks like Annie Williams as a venue.
She has collected signatures from almost a dozen other businesses with the same concerns.
A members only meeting will be held Tuesday at the Bracebridge Memorial Arena at 7:00pm to review BIA events that request road closures on Manitoba.
