Two people hospitalized after vehicle hit a moose in Bracebridge

Two people have been sent to hospital after the vehicle they were in hit a moose in Bracebridge. Last night at 10 pm emergency officials responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 11. It appeared a northbound Ford Focus was travelling on the inside lane north of High Falls Road when a moose stepped out into the lane. The driver of the Ford struck the moose head-on causing the vehicle to roll over coming to rest in the median. The highway was closed for a short time while emergency crews responded to the collision. The male driver and female passenger were transported to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) for medical treatment. A short time earlier, Huntsville OPP also responded to a similar call on Muskoka Road 117 involving a Moose and single motor vehicle. Police are reminding motorists to keep watch for animals crossing our roadways. Be safe, arrive alive.
