District of Muskoka supports request to province to bring back RED program

The District of Muskoka is showing support for an initiative to save provincial dollars from being pulled from a rural community fund.
On Monday night, Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith put a motion forward to request support from council to ask the province to bring back the Rural Economic Development Program.
The fund was recently suspended as the government considers filtering this money into the Jobs and Prosperity Fund.
Smith says this fund has been vital in providing funding to municipal projects.
Smith says he was pleased to see the response from council as the motion was passed to support this request to the province.
The proposal has been sent out the other municipalities in Muskoka as well as MPP Norm Miller, MP Tony Clement, AMO, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Premier Kathleen Wynne.
