Residents in Muskoka band together to file lawsuit against the MNRF

A group of lakeside property owners in Muskoka are blaming the MNRF for damages caused by flooding earlier this year.
Residents from Lake Muskoka, Lake Joseph and Lake Rosseau have banded together to submit a lawsuit against the government agency.
The group believes the mismanagement of water levels was a direct cause of high flood levels across the region.
Many cottagers and residents on lakes and rivers in the region found their boathouses and other structures damaged by these flood waters during the spring.
The group is holding a public meeting on Sunday at 9:30am at the Port Carling Community Centre for any other residents who may have been affected by the flooding.
Jolanta Kowalski with the MNRF says in the event this matter comes before the court, it would not be appropriate for the agency to comment.
