Hammond Transportation stays eco-friendly with new propane autogas school buses

Hammond Transportation in Bracebridge is taking the next step in providing a cleaner environment in Parry Sound and Muskoka.
The business has purchased 27 new school buses from Blue Bird that run on propane autogas with 25 running in Muskoka’s bus fleet and two in Parry Sound.
Greg Hammond, owner of Hammond Transportation says there are many added benefits to having a propane bus including a quieter ride, as the engine is 11 decibels quieter than a regular bus.
The propane autogas is Canadian-sourced.
There is also the fact that these vehicles don’t need heating blocks to start in the winter and can start in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees.
He adds there is a cost to converting these buses to the propane autogas usage, but he feels in the long run these buses will actually save the company money.
Hammond says it’s important to protect the environment by providing eco-friendly transportation.
You can spot these new school buses in the region by looking for the large Blue Bird logo.
