This long weekend, the District of Muskoka will officially take over the paramedic services provided in the region.
To mark this moment the district will be renaming Muskoka EMS to Muskoka Paramedic Services.
District council approved the inclusion of the paramedic services due to the savings in cost as opposed to continuing to contract out the service.
Newly appointed Chief of Paramedic Services and Emergency Management Jeff McWilliam says this transition will have no effect on the service provided, other than striving to continue to provide excellent care to Muskokans and visitors.
All paramedics that worked for Muskoka EMS have been offered jobs and transitioned to district employees.
