Huntsville Council Hears from Lake of Bays Mayor on Equal Voting at the District

The Town of Huntsville has heard from a mayor about equal representation at the district level.

During the regular meeting last night, Lake of Bays Mayor Bob Young looked for support from Huntsville council to seek district approval for equal voting. Currently, only the townships of Lake of Bays and Georgian Bay have three votes total, while all other municipalities have four.

Young was seeking to get one extra vote for the townships that have three. During the meeting, council heard his presentation, asked questions, but didn’t vote. This is something that confused the Lake of Bays mayor.

Huntsville Mayor Scott Aitchison said very little during Young’s presentation but added he would not support it as it wrapped up.

Young will now look to Bracebridge and Gravenhurst councils for support.
