Gravenhurst to send letter to Ontario Premier over concerns of rising policing costs

The OPP is changing the method of billing and Gravenhurst council is not too happy. At a recent town meeting, Gravenhurst councilor Lola Bratty was against the increase saying the province is proposing a flawed business model. If approved, Bratty says policing costs could rise by 70 percent from last year costing taxpayers hundreds of dollars more each year.

Bratty says her concern is the more voices that say this is unsustainable the more likely the town will be heard. Gravenhurst voted in support of the District negotiating a contract with the OPP. The Town is also is sending a letter to the Premier of Ontario to try and get out of paying additional costs.
