The Orillia OPP is reminding boaters to be safe while out on lakes and rivers.
Police say boaters have a better chance of returning safely by never overloading their vessels and not going out if unpredictable weather is in the forecast.
Make sure everyone onboard is wearing their lifejackets or Personal Flotation Devices, and that you have all required safety equipment.
Make sure you’re familiar with the boat you are operating, and that it is ready for any conditions.
Anyone operating a motorized water vessel has to have a pleasure craft operating licence.
