A group of workers in Gravenhurst are sending a message to the Ontario government.
On July 18th, workers from Muskoka Shores Nursing Home held a rally, marching across Gravenhurst to protest the lack of staff available to provide proper care to the seniors at the home.
President of CUPE local 2481 Cindy Seaton says the ratio of staff to residents just isn’t enough to meet the minimum care standards.
Seaton says there is currently a private member’s bill that was introduced that would see a higher ratio of staff to seniors become a provincial standard.
Seaton says she’s spoken with other personal support workers in the area and has received the same feedback of feeling short staffed.
There will be another rally held on August 11th and Seaton says they will have a location confirmed soon.
Moose FM reached out to Sienna Senior Living, the company which manages Muskoka Shores, but has not had a response.
