A dramatic rescue unfolded this morning in Gravenhurst. Just before 5am, a fire broke out in an apartment building at 165 Old Muskoka Road. Firefighters found a man hanging from a 4th floor window by his fingertips. They raised a ladder and rescued the 31 year old who was upset and shaken, but uninjured. The building was evacuated while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. Crews brought the fire under control quickly and have allowed most people to return to their apartments. The fire caused an estimated $25,000.00 in damages and the cause remains under investigation.
