Bracebridge Council feels that Mayor Graydon Smith would make the best candidate to represent the Bracebridge and Muskoka region on the new Muskoka and Area Health System Transformation Council.
Smith has already started on the path to help bring change to the healthcare system in Muskoka by becoming an advocate for the two-hospital model and presenting his opinions through the Muskoka Healthcare Task Force.
According to Smith, discussions on that task force have led to the creation of this new council.
Council has agreed to nominate Smith as one of the representatives on this council, however, it is the Local Integrated Health Network that makes the final decision.
The new MAHST council is expected to sit down for its first meeting in August.
