Fire Danger Rating moves to Moderate in Muskoka

If you couldn’t use those Canada Day fireworks last week, you can break them out now.

The Fire Danger Rating is back down to Moderate, which means daytime burning without a permit is still banned, but fireworks are definitely allowed.

You’ll be able to have your evening fires as well, but remember to stay cautious as conditions are still dry enough for fire to break out.

Last week, Muskoka Lakes Fire Department put a ban on fireworks and cancelled any Canada Day displays due to the High Fire Danger Rating.

The fire department is thanking everyone who cooperated by cancelled or postponed fireworks events last weekend due to this ban.

Fire officials say since we’ve had a good dousing of rain over the weekend, the rating was able to drop.

If you are unsure of the current Fire Danger Rating during the summer or the restrictions you can contact the hotline at 705-687-8977 or toll free at 1-877-847-1577.
