With Canada Day coming up this weekend there may be an urge for some residents to run their own fireworks shows.
Gravenhurst fire officials say this is fine as long as you properly follow the instructions and be fire smart when setting them off.
This means staying away from trees and tall dry grass or buildings when setting off fireworks.
Don’t set off fireworks if the wind is heavy.
If the firework is a dud leave it alone for about half an hour, and then soak it in water before disposing of it.
If someone is burned by a firework run cool water over their burn and get them medical attention.
