District of Muskoka preparing for Canada Post service disruption

The District of Muskoka is preparing for the worst with a possible postal disruption on the horizon.

Canada Post employees may either be locked out or go on strike as of July 2nd if negotiations between the crown corporation and the workers’ union continue to break down this week.

If that happens, all packages and letters will be secured and delivered when the service resumes.

Due to this, the district has stopped mailing social assistance cheques and drug benefit cards.

These items will now be available for pick up for the foreseeable future at either at one of the three district offices or the Township of Georgian Bay Municipal Office.

All four offices will be closed at 4:00pm on Thursday, closed on Canada Day and will reopen on Monday at 8:00am.

Here are the addresses for each office location:

  • District office in Gravenhurst, 141 Main Street
  • District office in Bracebridge, 205 Manitoba Street
  • District office in Huntsville, 1 King William Street Unit #5
  • Municipal office in Port Severn, 99 Lone Pine Drive
