The Government of Canada is investing nearly $250 million to improve the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site.
Officials say the funding will be used to restore and repair bridges, dams, locks and historic masonry structures. It will also be used to improve visitor safety with new lighting, handrails and signage.
The funding was announced by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Parks Canada.
