Gravenhurst officials warn residents to stay away from invasive species

Gravenhurst officials are warning residents to be wary of invasive species this summer.

If you’re out tending to your garden or cutting the grass and you come across an invasive species, such as Hogweed, Phragmites or Japanese Knotweed, leave it alone and call the town.

Many varieties of these species can cause health issues and be spread through touch or trying to remove them yourself.

If you find them on your property call the town and you will be directed on what to do next.

Town officials may have the plants removed professionally from your property if deemed necessary.
