Gravenhurst officials are working hard to redevelop the old Muskoka Regional Centre.
On Tuesday, council discussed the possibility of entering negotiations with the province to acquire the property.
This would allow Gravenhurst to find the right partner to take on the project and control the direction of the redevelopment.
The main focus at this point is permanent employment opportunities and public access.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Growth recently declared the property as surplus.
