Council discusses Town Dock and Empire lease at regular meeting

Huntsville’s mayor and council will discuss the Town Dock finger extensions at Town Hall today. Council is voting on a proposal to allow Huron Distract Contracting to do the work at just over $33,000. If approved, 11 fingers slips would be installed, which would allow up to 22 boats to park.

Council will also discuss a parking lease at the old Empire Hotel site. In 2012, the town signed a one-year lease to provide free public parking. The Town is looking to re-lease the property from the owners for another year so staff can start work on the free public parking and spruce up the green space.

Meantime, there are several presentations on the agenda. Fire Chief Steve Hernen will be recognized for his new roll as VP for the Association of Fire Chiefs Board of Directors. Kevin Hicks will give council an update on the Muskoka Animation Studio in Huntsville and there will also be updates on the Brunel Community Hall and Huntsville’s cemeteries.

Meeting starts at 1pm. If you can’t go to Town Hall, you can watch it live on Channel 10.
