South Muskoka Hospital and Huntsville Hospital now smoke free

Hospitals in Bracebridge and Huntsville are now completely smoke-free.

In March, Muskoka Alognquin Healthcare began the process of pushing smoking, by both staff and patients, off hospital grounds.

During this time, hospital staff was providing inpatients with Nicotine Replacement Therapy, and offering staff resources to help stop smoking.

As of June 1st, no type of smoking, including vaping, is allowed anywhere on hospital property.

MAHC is following through with the Ontario government smoke-free legislation that is pushing all hospitals in the province to go smoke-free.

Officials say this move helps promote healthy choices to patients and their families as well as helps those who are trying to quit smoking.
