One man has fully recovered from a serious allergic reaction thanks to a 10-year program from the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department.
On May 25th crews from the fire department assisted with a medical call on Highway 117 where a man had gone into anaphylactic shock caused by an allergic reaction to a bee sting.
While taken to hospital by a friend, the fire department gave the man a dosage of epinephrine from an EpiPen carried on board.
Since then, he has expressed his gratitude towards the fire department as they were able to provide assistance. 07
Since the mid-2000’s, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department is required to carry EpiPens on all rescue trucks. This was made possible by a yearly donation from a patient who also went through the same incident.
