Three Almaguin students are science fair medalists

Land of Lakes’ Grade 7 students, Abby Calarco and Emily Rutledge competed in a nation-wide science fair in Windsor. Last week, the pair submitted their project “APParel APPeal”, which is an outfit design computer program using the clothes you have in your closet. Their idea won them the silver medal. They also won a $2,000 scholarship to Western University and $300 from Youth Science Canada.

Meantime, An Evergreen Heights student is a bronze medalist. Willow Weiler entered her project “A Sticky Situation”. The project focused on how to clean up an oil spill using natural materials. On top of the medal, Weiler received a $1,000 scholarship to Western University and $100 from the Nuclear Waste Management Organization. Weiler is also in Grade 7.
