Jewellery and savings stolen from Syrian refugee family in Gravenhurst

Just a few months after the first Syrian refugee family arrived in Muskoka, their new home has been robbed.

On Sunday night, the Banna family returned to a house that was torn apart according to their Gravenhurst sponsors.

On the Facebook group Syrian Refugees Gravenhurst, officials explain jewellery and the family’s life savings were stolen from the home.

Tony and Jamila Banna are both mostly upset about the stolen jewellery which has strong sentimental value according to the group page.

Police have been contacted and officials are asking anyone with information about this theft to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
