Local teachers concerned about continued lack of contract

As summer approaches, secondary school teachers of Trillium Lakeland District School Board remain concerned about the status of their contract.

Officials say teachers will be without a collective agreement for 24 months starting September, if an agreement isn’t reached with the school board.

OSSTF vice-president Cindy Dubue says sanctions will be expanded to include all voluntary extra-curricular activities if a deal isn’t reached by August 26th.

The Ontario Labour Relations Board has dismissed bad faith bargaining allegations from the school board against the union.  The labour board says the teachers’ bargaining position is legal.

The union says it looks forward to moving ahead with negotiations with the school board.
