Rain barrel program open to Bracebridge residents once again

A popular environmentally friendly program is being offered by the Town of Bracebridge once again.

Bracebridge residents are invited to purchase your own rain barrels from the Public Works Department at the Municipal Office.

According to officials, rain barrels provide an environmentally friendly option for homeowners to water lawns and gardens.

The barrel is easily installed under your rain gutter and collects the water during each rainfall.

There is also a filter inside to stop mosquitoes from using the barrel as a breeding area.

Town officials say these barrels have been quite a popular item in the past, so there is a 5 barrel per family limit.

Each barrel is $62 each and all proceeds collected will go towards the Annie Williams Tree Restoration Program.

This initiative is run through the Bracebridge Environmental Advisory Committee.
