The Town of Bracebridge is taking proactive steps in ensuring its historic clock tower remains in good condition.
Council has agreed to give an annual allowance of $2,500 to the owner, Martin Sheffield, to upkeep the clockworks and bell.
According to officials, Sheffield has shown a great deal of interest in conserving the historical features of the landmark, as well as maintaining the clock itself.
Town officials and council will expect to see an annual report from Sheffield covering all the details of maintenance completed on the tower.
Sheffield purchased the building last summer with interest in turning the inside into a small shopping centre.
