Gravenhurst Fire Chief extends thanks to emergency workers and residents

Gravenhurst Fire Chief Larry Brassard says he had visions of the Alberta wildfires in his mind as he and other firefighters worked to put out four fires in the community.

Following the Thursday fires that broke out across Muskoka, Brassard is looking back on his own experience with positive thoughts.

He says there was a lot of gratitude shown for firefighters from Muskoka residents.

Brassard is also applauding the work of firefighters and giving his own appreciation to other departments in Bracebridge, Muskoka Lakes, Huntsville and Severn Township.

Finally, he is extending his thanks to the OPP, 9-1-1 operators and even residents for their help and understanding.

Officials believe the fires may have been caused by a train car which had itself caught fire around the Gravenhurst, although CN officials have not commented on the incident at this point.
