Gravenhurst firefighters take on four grass fires around the community

Gravenhurst firefighters have responded to four separate fires across the region this afternoon.

Officials with the town say all the fires were started in close proximity to CNR railway lines.

The first fire started around 1:00pm behind the Ministry of Transportation weigh scales on Highway 11, just south of Gravenhurst.

Officials closed the southbound lane of Highway 11 for a short time while dealing with the fire.

That fire was brought under control a few hours later.

A second fire was reported on Caroline Street and a third on Winhara Road, which forced officials to close the road for a short time.

The fire on Winhara Road did damage a mobile home, but no one was in it at the time.

The fourth fire was reported on Rusty Rock Road, and that was quickly brought under control as well.

Fire crews from Bracebridge, Muskoka Lakes Severn Township all assisted in dealing with these fires.

There were no injuries reported in any of the incidents.
