Local teachers’ union protests outside TLDSB board meeting

Secondary school teachers of Trillium Lakeland District School Board want the public to know they are still here for the kids.

TLDSB teachers have been without a contract for 20 months because the local school board and the local union haven’t been able to reach an agreement.

On Tuesday, teachers from District 15 rallied outside the Archie Stouffer Elementary School in Haliburton to send a message to the school board they want to go back to the negotiating table.

OSSTF Vice President Cindy Dubue says teachers want a fair deal.

She wants parents to know students’ education has not been interfered with.

The school board said in its latest release it is waiting for a response from the Ontario Labour Board to see if the teachers’ demands are a legal negotiating position.
