BMLSS kicks off 3rd annual 1-in-5 Wellness Symposium
Teachers at Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School are hoping to help cut the edge on stress for students in Muskoka.
On Thursday, the school will host grade 10 students from Gravenhurst and Huntsville High School as well as grade 10s at BMLSS for the third annual 1-in-5 Wellness Symposium.
Students will hear from motivation speaker Ryan Porter in the morning before engaging in a number of stress relief activities.
Organizer and Teacher at BMLSS Wendy Nicholson says they have seen success in the past two years of this event.
Nicholson adds a lot of focus is put on planning for the future.
She says post-secondary education may not be for every student and they want to help these kids prepare and plan for any type of future.
Nicholson says this event is in partnership between herself and teachers Jen Rosewarne, Jen Lauer and Andrea DiSebo.
The 1-in-5 Wellness Symposium kicks off at 9:30am and runs throughout the entire school day.
