Lakes are Officially Ice Free in Algonquin Park

Officials say the ice is clear from all the lakes in Algonquin Park.

As of yesterday, park officials held a flight over the entire park and say all lakes seem to be clear. They are reminding canoers and anglers to stay safe while on the water as it’s still extremely cold.

Lake Opeongo, the park’s biggest lake opened on Sunday.  The average ice out date for that lake since 1964 is April 23rd.
