The Town of Huntsville would like to see the speed reduced on South Portage Road.
At the District of Muskoka meeting on Monday night, Huntsville Mayor Scott Aitchison proposed a request to have the speed reduced. The request was to drop it from 60 to 50 kilometres an hour closest to Brunel Road.
He says the proposal was turned down due to engineering issues, which the mayor doesn’t agree with.
The proposal will now be brought back to the Engineering and Public Works Committee, where Aitchison is hopeful something can be worked out.
During the meeting, Township of Lake of Bays Mayor Bob Young announced he would be supporting Huntsville on this proposal.
