Portion of Muskoka Wharf to be named A.P. Cockburn Square
The name of Alexander Cockburn is being memorialized on a portion of Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst.
Town council approved the motion to name a portion of the wharf A.P. Cockburn Square, following a meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
The request was brought forward by a local group of Cockburn enthusiasts, who would like to see this historical figure become more recognizable in the town.
The group is celebrating Cockburn’s involvement in launching the first steamship in Gravenhurst 150 years ago.
