BREAKING: Police officer dead after collapsing during K9 Unit training

A Thunder Bay Police Service officer has died following a K9 training incident this morning. Central Region OPP Constable Peter Leon says he was rushed to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge this morning around 10:45 followed by a large police convoy of vehicles. Leon says the K9 Unit officer collapsed in medical distress during training involving a K9 Track on Loon Lake Road in Gravenhurst. A post mortem is planned to determine the actual cause of death. Right now, it is being called a health related matter. The Ministry of Labour has been notified and is also investigating.
