Ice Remains Thick on Algonquin Park Lakes

The ice has stopped melting for now in Algonquin Park.

Officials say only a few centimetres of ice thickness has been lost since the above seasonal temperatures in mid-march.

All lakes in the park remain ice covered.

The warm temperatures in the forecast will not melt the ice further since overnight temperatures are staying cold.

Free conditions for canoeists and anglers are not expected by the opening of trout season on April 23rd.
