Muskoka woman sending message to Immigration Minister over Syrian refugee cap

One Muskoka woman has started a petition to help bring all privately sponsored Syrian refugee families to Canada.
After only one family was brought to Muskoka, in Gravenhurst, the rest are now being put on hold as the Canadian Government has put a cap on all Syrian refugee applications.
Jody White of Huntsville feels this is unacceptable and has started a petition to send to Immigration Minister John McCallum requesting that the application process for privately sponsored families be sped up.
White says as of last December, over 8,000 refugees were sponsored by private groups across Canada.
The government slowed down the application process after meeting the 25,000 refugee goal it had set last year.
